Genesis 1-3

Whoo hoo! Here we go, girls! Everyone strapped in and ready to ride?

Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." This is one of the basics of the Christian faith. Do you truly believe that Almighty God completed the creation of the universe in 6 days and rested on the 7th?

Hebrews 11:2 "By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible." If we can't believe that God was able to form all of creation in a literal 6 days, then we can't believe that God is capable to transform our lives. Have you invited God to work any miracles in your family today? Do you believe He can do it?

Genesis 2:20-23 I love that God formed Eve out of Adam's rib. Trent's grandmother had a little poem she loved to recite, saying that woman was not created out of a part of Adam's foot that he should trample her nor out of a part of his head that he should rule over her but out of his side that they should walk side by side together. (It went something like that, anyway. Someone please correct me if you know the real version of the poem.) Am I being a suitable helper for my husband today?

Genesis 2:24 Why is this verse here in the passage about Adam and Eve? They didn't have a father and mother to leave!

Genesis 3 Dear Jesus, help me to resist temptation today. Help me not to entice others to sin today, as Eve invited Adam to join her in rebellion against God's commands.

Genesis 3:21-24 I can feel God's heart breaking as He made suitable clothing for His children. As He killed the animals for the garments of skin, He was offering the first blood sacrifice for the sin of mankind. Imagine God's sorrow as He looked ahead to picture all the sacrifice for sin that would have to be made throughout the ages, and the ultimate sacrifice of His One and Only Son Jesus. Imagine God's tears as He "drove the man out." God's perfect plan for Adam and Eve would not be fulfilled because of selfish choices they had made, choices for temporary pleasure. What choices will you make today? Do they lead you down the path of God's best for you, or do they drive you away from His perfect plan?

  1. Genesis 3:15 "And I will put enmity between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head,
and you will strike his heel."

Webster.com defines enmity as this: positive, active, and typically mutual hatred or ill will.

So what is God saying in this verse? And why?

  2. This is God's curse on the serpent. It means that people and serpents would hate one another. We crush snakes, and snakes strike us with venom.

Did you know that snakes have non-functioning nubs where you would expect they should have legs? Evolutionists say it is a regression in their evolution. I say God did it!

  3. Faith is important to being a Christian. Heb. 11:6 says that without Faith it is impossible to please God.
Did God create the world in 7 days? Yes, I looked up the original Hebrew word for day in that verse, and it means a day, and also the wording that God uses, and there was evening and there was morning the first day. Then they went by the lunar day, so it should be understood as that. Now we call it 24 hrs.

John 1:14 says that in Him was life and nothing came into being that has come into being (NASB)
Rom. 1:20 says that God has shown Himself through creation to man, and therefore if we refuse this truth, well it says there is no excuse. That is hard to take when you meet those who know who God is but refuse to accept Him.?

Maybe God said this in Gen. 2:20 - because since they were the only ones on the earth at that time, God was their Father and their Mother. We know their home was in the Garden. It is still amazing to me how even a verse in Gen. 2:20 God is still using that today~!!!! Just like you said God's word is alive and active, and it is able to cut into our lives to make us the person that He wants us to be.

  4. Oh, I am so thankful that God still speaks to us through His Word today. The best thing about the Bible is that the same words I may have read a week ago may leap off the page at me today because God has a fresh word for me to hear in this moment.

I have been studying the Bible for 30 years now (I know I don't look that old.), and I am still learning new and incredible things just by studying it again with you!

  5. I'm just now getting on here to read everything and post a comment. Better late than never! So, here's a question for you- Why didn't God just destroy Satan before the fall of Adam and Eve? He knew how things were going to turn out, so it seems eaiser if He would've just taken care of Satan then.
