Welcome!

God is leading me on an incredible journey of faith, and I want you to join me! My life verse is Psalm 34:3, "Come glorify the Lord with me, let us exalt His Name together." Will you join me, and we will study His Word together?

Start by telling me your life verse and why it is so special to you.

Are you curious to know what a life verse is and want help finding a Scripture that will guide you in following God? Let me know!

Praising God for His indescribable gift!

  1. Hi Dana~~

I would love to join you for bible study and to glorify the Lord with you. My life verse is John 15:5
"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me and I in him, bears much fruit for without Me you can do nothing." I learned this verse in my mid 20's when God's word became more than just words on a page for me. I am always being reminded of these words and just recently was made aware that sometimes even some fruit on the vine may need to be pruned in order to get the best yield from the crop. I always thought of pruning as getting rid of the dead stuff but sometimes even some good things we have on our vine must be snipped in order to get to the really good stuff! I am looking forward to this journey. Cindy

  2. Have you found that being pruned is always uncomfortable but that after a time of healing, it is always worth it? For me, it's like cleaning out the junk drawer. I put it off forever, but I am so proud when it's done. Why do we wait so long to let God de-clutter our lives?

Thanks for joining me, Cindy! I can see that God is using you on the vine to bear much fruit for His glory!

  3. Wow, how fun! I would love to join. Check out this book sometime...30 Days to Understanding the Bible, by Max Anders...I haven't worked through it all, but it sure does a great job of putting things in order and getting to the important facts.
Hmmm, my life verse. I think I have two. First is Proverbs 3: 5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and He will make your paths straight." Sidenote: a while back my dad gave me a magnet with my name on it and it also had this verse!!! He didn't know at the time it was my favorite. Trust has been a stumbling block in my life and learning that the Lord CAN be trusted is my goal! Despite the mistakes I have made and will continue to make, He will be there and He and only He is able to straighten out my messes!!
My other verse just became my life verse last fall, during a very difficult time. Hebrews 7:25 "Therefore (because Jesus lives forever and has a permanent priesthood) he is able to save completely (to the uttermost) those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them." No matter how deep we fall, Jesus' reach goes that much deeper! And no matter how long it takes to climb back up, Jesus is in it with us for the long haul!! And He, the Lord Jesus Christ LIVES to intercede for ME!! And you!

  4. Hi Dana,
I always love hearing from you. You have such a sweet spirit and it always brings me up too!
Thank you for asking me to join you in this Bible Study journey, it sounds really neat!!
We all seem to have different Life verses as Life happens, at least I have. Jer. 29:11-14; and John 15 the whole chapter has always been one of my favorites. But recently there has been a struggle in one of the churches in our association. I have cried out to God for them in prayer, and then in My own personal Bible study, a couple of months ago, I read Psalm 37:3-8 -Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret--It only causes harm.

  5. Terrific! Thanks for joining us, ladies, and for sharing your life verses. Isn't it fabulous that God's Word is living and active and that it speaks directly to each of us in our specific places of need. The verses you have mentioned have spoken to me as well in various places in my life. Proverbs 3:5-6 and Jeremiah 29:11-14 have reminded me that God's path and plan for me are perfect and that I can trust Him with the details.

The awesome thing about choosing a life verse is that it helps us make decisions about how to follow God's leading. Whenever people ask me to join them in activities, I try my best to check it against Psalm 34:3. First, can I glorify the Lord as I participate in the activity, and second, does it enable me to invite others to join me in glorifying Him? If the activity falls short in either category, then I must recognize that it is not God's best for me at the time. As Cindy mentioned, sometimes even good things must be snipped off our vines so we can bear much fruit.

  7. Hurray for you, Lorna! One thing that really gets me stoked is to see new Believers studying God's Word. I hope you have fun with us!

I suppose we all find our life verses in different ways, and as Karen mentioned, sometimes the verses that speak most clearly to us will change with time and with life circumstances.

When I was in jr. high school, my mom introduced me to Romans 8:28, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose." Then when I was graduating from high school, I clung to Jeremiah 29:11-14, which tells us that God knows the plans He has for our lives.

I think I selected Psalm 34:3 as my life verse when my children were young. As a stay-at-home mom, I felt torn between a variety of activities, and I needed God's help in deciding which ones I should say yes to. This verse helped give me focus.

You probably already have some verses that are sort of your favorites. Maybe there is one that comes to your mind most often when you are worried, or when you are excited. Maybe there are words you especially like such as love or joy or holiness. Use your Bible concordance, or do a search on BibleGateway.com to find a list of verses that contain some of your favorite words.

Ask God to help you select a very special verse that speaks directly to your soul. It should be a comforting verse, or maybe one that spurs you to action. It should certainly be a verse that you can quote out loud whenever you feel tempted to do wrong.

Thank you so much for asking for help. I hope others will offer their wisdom too. You can also email me at tydyd_89@yahoo.com if you have questions.

    Praying for you!
    Dana

  12. Hi Dana-
Thanks for inviting me to be a part of the study. Being 30 miles away from everyone and not involved in an adult SS class, this is a great way for me to be involved in a Bible study. My life verses are Isaiah 55:8-9: "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the Lord. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are my ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts." Always reminding me - God knows best!
